Thin muslin cloth is worn around the extremities with much fraying and recession, interior hinges remain strong with inta…ct marbled endpapers. Interior contents are very clean and sharp with sound stitching. Bindings labeled as 'I' and 'II' thought they are, in fact, the first and third of eight total volumes. Comprised of the first and third volumes of the de Fleury father/son tractatus theologico-archaeologicus. Charles, the elder de Fleury, was an eminent French architect of the mid-1900's, noted for his advances in the design of wrought-iron and glass construction. For somewhat obscure reasons, he abandoned his firm and turned his immense learning to spiritual ends, spending the remaining years of his life compiling what became, under his son Georges's editorship, 8 volumes of studies on the liturgical, theological, and archaeological settings of the Mass in Church history, with special emphasis on the patristic period. Abundant plates of ecclesial architectural settings in Rohault's impeccable hand.

Lesort, 1870, belle reliure plein cuir avec décors à froid et dorures au bordures intérieures des plats, toutes tranches dorées, environ 32.5 X 25 cm, 414 (8) pages, illustré de 23 planches dont une colorée, et aussi de petites…figures dans le texte. Notre exemplaire est en très bon état général, bien propre et solide, montrant quelques traces d'usure aux extrémités, un petit manque de la tranche-fil au bas du dos, une courte fente à la tête du dos, des traces de frottements aux arêtes inférieures des plats et d'autres frottements aux coins supérieurs droits des plats (voir les images). L'intérieur est en excellent état, d'une belle fraicheur, sans rien à signaler sauf quelques rousseurs aux premières pages vierges et une inscription manuscrite d'au moins 6 lignes sur la seconde page vierge. Un ouvrage intéressant et de belle facture. (AVERTISSEMENT ; Les frais d'envoi indiqués par Abebooks sont erronés car toujours calculés sur la base d'un colis de moins de 1kg.
