In an attempt by the Stratemeyer Syndicate to cash in on the "Tarzan" fervor sweeping the US in the early decades of the 20th century, they introduced the character of Bomba, a white boy growing up in the jungles of South America (first 10 books) & Africa (late…r 10 books). The series was popular & made into a series of 12 films, 1949-1955, starring Johnny Sheffield, who had played "Boy" in the original Tarzan films starring Johnny Weissmuller. From 1932, this was book #13 in the original Cupples & Leon printings (the true FIRST EDITIONs), & a true First Printing, listing to self in front matter, in 206 pages with glossy frontispiece by W. S. Rogers (unattributed in book). A 12mo (5" x 7.5") with tan cloth-covered boards stamped with a black design showing Bomba in the jungle to front center, lettered above & below & to spine in black, this book is in Fair condition: generally quite clean, text block strong but rear hinge is cracked. Pages moderately tanned & unmarked save for former owner's information in pen to the "This is my book" box on ffep. Light rubbing to extremities Is quite heavy along spine.
