In an attempt by the Stratemeyer Syndicate to cash in on the "Tarzan" fervor sweeping the US in the early decades of the 20th century, they introduced the character of Bomba, a white boy growing up in the jungles of South America (first 10 books) & Africa (later 10 books). The series was popular & made into a series of 12 films, 1949-1955, starring Johnny Sheffield, who had played "Boy" in the original Tarzan films starring Johnny Weissmuller. From 1927, this was book #5 in the original Cupples & Leon printings (the true FIRST EDITIONs), & a true First Printing, listing to self in front matter, in 208 pages with glossy frontispiece by W. S. Rogers (unattributed in book). A 12mo (5" x 7.5") with tan cloth-covered boards stamped with a black design showing Bomba in the jungle to front center, lettered above & below & to spine in black, this book is in VG condition: very clean, binding strong & straight, pages moderately tanned but completely unmarked ("This is my book" box is blank to ffep), hinges secure. Just slight rubbing to extremities & mild corner bumping. Odd bleached stain to spine. No DJ (missing).
