War man sich also schon über den Begriff des zu Begreifenden nicht einig, so konnte es nicht ausbleiben, daß die Diskussion über das Unbewußte sich in ein Gestrüpp von Irrungen und Wirrungen verlor, in dem sachliche und begriffliche Unklarheiten, mangelnde Scheidung metaphysischer und empirischer Gesichtspunkte durcheinanderlaufen, während zu guter Letzt die ungenügend durchdachte Methode der Psychoanalyse die Unentwirrbarkeit des Geflechtes vervollständigte.
