Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware - 'Birchtree Villa' is an evocative work of early 20th-century fiction by Aime Van Rod that transports readers to a world of elegance, social nuance, and personal discovery. Set against the backdrop of the mid-1920s, the narrative centers on the inhabitants and visitors of the eponymous villa, exploring the intricate dynamics of family, love, and the shifting social structures of the post-war era.The story captures the essence of a bygone age, blending elements of domestic drama with the charm of classic romantic literature. Through vivid characterizations and a keen eye for atmospheric detail, Van Rod paints a picture of life at 'Birchtree Villa', where secrets and aspirations collide. As the characters navigate the expectations of their class and the desires of their hearts, the book offers a compelling look at the human condition during a period of significant cultural transition.Valued for its historical perspective and its portrayal of 1920s sensibilities, 'Birchtree Villa' remains a graceful example of early modern storytelling. It is an ideal read for those who appreciate character-driven narratives and the quiet intensity of domestic fiction. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it. This work was reproduced from the original artifact, and remains as true to the original work as possible. Therefore, you may see the original copyright references, library stamps (as most of these works have been housed in our most important libraries around the world), and other notations in the work. This work is in the public domain in the United States of America, and possibly other nations. 31pp. Illustrated in b/w. A flagellation / spanking story detailing the various punishments visited upon a young woman at a boarding school prior to her marriage. Aime van Rod was a pseudonymous author of flagellation fiction in the early part of the 20th century; the relation of this to such work is tenuous, but not as implausible as any relation to Panurge Press. Pastiche or piracy, the work has a nice retro feel, complemented by artwork that seems to be from the interwar years, mostly credited to a "Donna Brace." These, almost certianly taken from some other source, bear non-sequential numbers at the bottom that do not relate to the story. Saddle-stapled digest. Light shelfwear; some pencil marks on back wrapper, else very good.
