Robuck served in Co. A, 29th Mississippi Infantry, Walthall's Brigade. He provides accounts of the battles of Murfreesboro, his first major engagement, and Chickamauga, where he was wounded out of military service. Robuck discusses Reconstruction and race relations in post-war Mississippi and provides a lengthy account of the early history of the Ku Klux Klan.
