Hardcover. Condition: New. From the late 19th century engineers were exploring ways to slow down a vehicle by running its motor in reverse, thus converting kinetic energy into a storable form. While regenerative braking was widely banned after a 1911 tramcar accident, this volume details its development on trolleybuses (which we…re excluded from the ban), culminating in its perfection in the 1990s.

Contact seller5-star sellerHardcover. Condition: Good. 2nd Edition. BOOK DESCRIPTION: 8vo, 1039 pgs, index, portrait plates. Original red leather spine with cloth covered boards. Revised Edition. CONDITION DESCRIPTION: Cover is rubbed and worn, spine is chipped, cracked and worn. Front cover with former owner's name stamped in gilt. Interior with bookplat…e of former owner, front hinge is cracked but holding, else is tight, pages are clean. With clear mylar wrapper. CONTENTS DESCRIPTION: Excellent review of the Michigan Regiments in the War, from official sources. Includes a regimental history of all the Michigan regiments and a roster of the commissioned officers of the state with their military service records. Superior revised edition based on inputs the author received from reviews of the earlier work; many from the Regimental officers. Very nice, solid copy of a work often found in tough shape. REFERENCES: Nevins II pg 156: "Revised edition of an 1880 work; primarily military history, regiment by regiment, with only incidental reference to non-military events." Eicher #916: "Much of the value lies within the book, however, as the general history contains important and enlightening facts in addition to less-useful rambling recollections. The bulk of their volume consists of a massive collection of capsule histories of all the Michigan units.".

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book presents a comprehensive history of the war flags of Michigan, exploring their origins, symbolism, and the role they played in some of the most significant conflicts in American history, including the war with Mexico and the Civil War. The author delves into the rich symbolis…m of the flags, tracing their evolution from the early days of Michigan territory to the present day.
