Hardcover. Condition: Very Good condition. No jacket. First Edition. New York: The Parade Publishing Company, 1926. Very Good condition. Bound in the original green cloth, which is still bright (without any of the usual fading). SEE PHOTOS. Sharp corners. Hinges are perfect. NO owner's name or bookplate. NO underlining. NO highlighting. NO margin notes. The fourth and apparently final issue of this short-lived magazine in book form. Hardcover. It was edited by Jamaican-born Walter Adolphe Roberts (1886-1962), who also contributed to this issue a short editorial, a play (THE QUEEN'S TENT, pp. 62-80), an article (AL SMITH FOR PRESIDENT), and a book review. This issue is filled with short stories, poetry, and essays. Of special interest is Adolphe de Castro's 17-page essay, AMBROSE BIERCE AS HE REALLY WAS, AN INTIMATE ACCOUNT OF HIS LIFE AND DEATH. Adolphe de Castro met Bierce in 1886, became his protà gà , and "wrote" a novella in collaboration with him. The article published here is the basis for the controversial explanation of Bierce's 1913 disappearance into revolution-torn Mexico. (de Castro claimed that Bierce had been shot by soldiers under orders from Pancho Villa). Other contributors to this issue are George Sterling (another Ambrose Bierce protà gà ), David Warren Ryder, Eleanor Ranos, Helene Mullins, Isa Glenn, H. M. Hamilton, S. Bert Cooksley, Lillian White Spencer, Louise Rice, Solita Solano, William Salisbury, Halpin O'Reilly Gilbert, Arthur Robson, Marcia Nardi, Eleanor de Nardi, Cary Ranck, Walter Haviland, Louis C. Fisher, Charles Divine, Robert Napier, Pauline de Silva, Eva Balfour, etc. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good condition/No jacket. 8vo. 191pp.

Full refund if not satisfied. 24 hour despatchvia Special Delivery synopsis The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has sponsored a programme of intensive research into the primary productivity of grass ecosystems in both the tropics and subtropics, resulting in this book. It therefore represents the first internationally integrated study of bio-productivity since the International Biological Programme (IBP) of the early 1970s. The large international team of scientists sponsored by UNEP identified five different grassland ecosystems, determining their levels of productivity as well as the effect of climatic variation on primary production and photosynthesis. The methods and results described indicate a three to ten-fold increase in estimates of productivity from the IBP figures, raising implications for a number of important questions such as: the understanding of how carbon is cycled, the environmental impact of removing grasslands, assessment of these ecosystems as genetic resources of productive grasses, assessing the impact of rising carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere, and establishing ground truth data for remote sensing of grassland productivity. This book provides a comprehensive assessment of an extremely important but under-researched biome. It should be of interest to a wide range of environmental scientists, including ecologists, atmospheric scientists, biogeographers, and environmental physiologists.

Hardcover. Condition: New. The continental crust is our archive of Earth history, and the store of many natural resources; however, many key questions about its formation and evolution remain debated and unresolved: What processed are involved in the formation, differentiation and evolution of continental crust, and how have these changed throughout Earth history? How are plate tectonics, the supercontinent cycle and mantle cooling linked with crustal evolution? What are the rates of generation and destruction of the continental crust through time? How representative is the preserved geological record? A range of approaches are used to address these questions, including field-based studies, petrology and geochemistry, geophysical methods, palaeomagnetism, whole-rock and accessory-phase isotope chemistry and geochronology. Case studies range from the Eoarchaean to Phanerozoic, and cover many different cratons and orogenic belts from across the continents.
