Eugen Carl Emil Ristenpart (1873 in Frankfurt - 1953 in Wiesbaden) was a German chemist and teacher of dye chemistry and fibre technology at the Technical State Institute in Chemnitz. As head of the workshop for color science, he was one of the pioneers in the use of Ostwald's color theory in the textile industry. On February 1, 1909, Ristenpart was hired as a teacher at the Chemnitz State Technical College, primarily to work in the field of dye chemistry at the dye school. In the same year, the Chemnitz dye school was given the name Royal Dyeing School of Chemnitz, where dye chemists and dye technicians were trained. On February 24, 1912, Ristenpart was appointed professor of textile chemistry. In 1912, he also attended the anniversary meeting of the Association of German Chemists in Freiburg. Ristenpart was one of the first to follow Wilhelm Ostwald's work on color research and the development of a color atlas, which Ostwald had begun in 1914 on behalf of the German Werkbund and introduced his color theory into the dyeing school's teaching as early as 1915. In 1917, Ostwald's color primer and color atlas were published, and in 1919 Ostwald's treatise Color Standards and Color Harmonies. After Ostwald's memorandum The Workshop for Color Science was published in October 1919, Ristenpart proposed in December 1919 that a branch of the Workshop for Color Science planned for Dresden be set up in Chemnitz. In January 1920, this proposal was supported by the director of the Chemnitz State Technical Institutes, who submitted a corresponding application to the Ministry of Economics in Dresden. The workshop was to be affiliated with the dyeing school and Ristenpart was to be appointed its director. Assumed First Edition. No earlier editions can be found. RAREE1911DKLX - 06/23 (BKCX?)
