Hardcover. Condition: As New. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. Not a book but a 12-inch, 33-1/3 rpm vinyl record album, ("Electronically Re-recorded to Simulate Stereo"), Imperial LP-12392 with green & black labels, near-mint vinyl in a near-mint original cardboard jacket which has been opened but still wears its original shrink-wrap bearing two small original price tags (one priced 99 cents), in lovely original Liberty inner paper sleeve advertising The Hollies' "Stop! Stop! Stop!" (1966), Gary Lewis & The Playboys' "Golden Greats" (1966), etc. Here, young Eric Hillard Nelson offers "Honeycomb," Carl Perkins & Howard "Curley" Griffin's "Boppin' The Blues," "Be-Bop Baby," "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You," "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On," seven others. The original release of this LP, on the earlier black-with-stars Imperial label, was 1957, and is highly sought-after. This is the re-channeled stereo version, sometimes listed as 1968. Jacket notes refer to "17 year old Rick's . . . first record last April," which would indicate notes may have merely been picked up from the 1957 release. (Young Nelson was born in 1940.) And indeed, jacket notes also report "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet" is about to "start its 14th consecutive season . . . this fall." The show's 14tth (and probably last) season on TELEVISION began in 1965, but they were likely counting the show's debut on RADIO in 1949, which would again date these unsigned notes to the release date of the original 1957 LP. Reduced from $44.

First Edition
No Binding. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Not books but a group of six, 7-inch, 45 rpm "single" rock 'n roll records from the year 1961. The Marvelettes' "Please Mr. Postman" (covered by some English scousers a few years later) is "very good"; the vinyl of Ricky Nelson's "Hello Mary Lou / Travelin' Man" is very-good-plus, although the labels here have suffered more harm than a mere sticker pull -- presumably someone glued on and then tore off a pair of larger name labels. (Young Eric Hilliard Nelson was a good looking lad with a warm and pleasant voice, but if you think a good-looking 21-year-old named Joe Schmo from Idaho would be likely to walk into the studio and be told, "OK, for starters, Gene Pitney has offered you a little thing called 'Hello Mary Lou,' and then for a B side Jerry Fuller has come up with a number called 'Travelin' Man' that he'd like you to try," well, you haven't quite grasped how coming from a Show Business family with its own long-running prime-time TV show can help a fella get off the ground.) The vinyl of Dion DiMucci's "Runaround Sue" is also very-good to very-good-plus, as is that of Gene Chandler's "Duke of Earl." The self-penned doo-wop efforts of Lou Josie may not be on the tip of your tongue, but this disc from rendezvous records ("Jeannie / Talk to the Angels") -- while not specifically identified as a demo -- has white labels and near-mint vinyl; we estimate it's a $12.50 value all by itself. And finally we have Decca 31244 on the pink label, The Seniors' "When Will I Fall In Love / Baby Say the Word." This shiny styrene disc would otherwise grade "mint," but someone has created a series of parallel scuffs to the first minute only of "When Will I Fall In Love." The record still plays through, but that introductory passage of the "A" side is noisy, reducing our grade for this disc alone to "good." So they're not perfect, but you get the ORIGINAL RELEASES of six big records from 1961, all for less than $2 apiece, plus shipping! This lot now reduced from $30.
