Istanbul: Istanbul Modern Sanat Muzesi, 2010. 4to., 204 p., color ills. Paperback. New ISBN: 9789756167410 CATALOG: Painting & Sculpture KEYWORDS: History of art Turkish painting Sculpture Istanbul Modern's new Exhibition, "From Traditional to Contemporary: Cultural Memory in Modern Turkish Art", will open in February 2010. Focusing on the relationship between art and the traditional, the Exhibition seeks to show how artists employ history in their construction of modernism. Curated by Istanbul Modern's chief Curator Levent Calikoglu, "From Traditional to Contemporary: Cultural Memory in Modern Turkish Art" will be a exhibition in which modern and contemporary artists will take part. These are the artists who reinterpret information, which is traditional, in the context of a new language of expression. "From Traditional to Contemporary: Cultural Memory in Modern Turkish Art" will consist of works by the following artists: Erol Akyavas, Ismet Dogan, Inci Eviner, Bedri Rahmi Eyuboglu, Selma Gurbuz, Ergin Inan, Balkan Naci Islimyeli, Murat Morova, and Ekrem Yalcindag. Held in the Temporary Exhibitions Hall, the show will include works by the participating artists, from their different periods, and in disciplines ranging from Video to Painting and from Installation Art to Photography. "From Traditional to Contemporary: Cultural Memory in Modern Turkish Art" will be focusing on the present and also on the past of modern art, bringing together a selection of objects, such as calligraphies, miniatures, stained glass, textiles, tombaks, and carpets. By juxtaposing these with the arts of Painting, Sculpture, Photography, and Installation, the Exhibition will encourage viewers to establish visual and conceptual relationships between works of art, on the one hand, and history and culture, on the other.…

Author Bio: Richard Brownlow (1553-1638) entered Middle Temple in 1583 and became Chief Protonotary of the Court of Common Pleas in 1590, a position he held until his death. John Goldesborough (1568-1618) joined the Middle Temple in 1613, the year he was also appointed Second Prothonotary of Common Pleas. Synopsis: [The Court of Common Pleas, or Common Bench, was a common law court in the English legal system that covered "common pleas"; actions between subject and subject, which did not concern the king. Created in the late 12th to early 13th century after splitting from the Exchequer of Pleas, the Common Pleas served as one of the central English courts for around 600 years. Authorised by Magna Carta to sit in a fixed location, the Common Pleas sat in Westminster Hall for its entire existence, joined by the Exchequer of Pleas and Court of King's Bench.] Richard Brownlow and John Goldesborough, Esquires The First Part With direction - For full description please contact the seller 2. …
