Contact seller5-star sellerSoft cover. Condition: Good. Softcover. Brown cloth over thin, flexible boards. "Rock Church" stamped in gold lettering on front cover. Some rubbing and faint tide lines to front cover, as well as bumping to corners. Title page dated 1872. 39 pages. Previous owner's name written in ink on title page, and lightly in pencil inside… cover. The history begins with the organization of the church in 1720. There are a few pencil marks or notes in the margin -- for example, on page 19, a previous owner put a star next to The Reverend James Dunlap and makes a note about his wife Sarah. The binding appears a little weak at the rear hinge, but overall, everything is still together. A good copy.

Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Very Good. See photos for condition details: hardcover, blue cloth boards stamped in blind with gilt to spine. Also included in the book is a 19th-century photo of Bishop Meade from the H. B. Hull's Fine Art Gallery of Parkersburg, West Virginia. The photo has spotting on both sides along with pinholes in t…he corner and top center, where was likely pinned to something, and appears to be a previously unknown image of the bishop. The book itself shows some spotting and soiling on the exterior along with some edge and corner bumps/wear. The interior binding is good at the boards but there is pulling in numerous spots and a crack is present between the two frontispiece images. The front end page contains the names of the original owners, who are mother and daughter. This page contains the signatures of Susan Meade Hedges (1839-1913) originally married to Philip Carmine VanMetre, and also her daughter Mary VanMetre Faulkner (1860-1931), who had married Oliver Faulkner of the Faulkner family in Winchester WVa. This book was part of the Faulkner estate that was purchased in the 1970s and was packed away. It is unknown the connection to the Bishop Meade, if any. Signed by Other.
