Tooled black leather covers generally quite sound, clean bar a couple of white smudges to back, extremities rubbed but sp.ends sound, gilt-dec.panel dividers v.sl.rubbed. The scarce later edition of this work in which the author argues that the biblical account is a 'figurative history of spiritual events', not about physical facts, describing the work as 'intended to illustrate a new principle of hermeneutics'. …
