Iustice Rastal. And in this Table the Title of Iustices of the Peace is Specially Perused and Amended, For Their More Easie Finding of Matters in this Booke, Concerning Their Authoritie. Light toning to interior, slightly heavier in places, faint dampstaining and wormholes to margins in a few places, light soiling and two later owner signatures, "R[ichar]d Beatniffe/ Hull/ 1730", and William Ritson) to title page. $2,500. * Rastell first published his great collection of statutes from Magna Carta to the present in 1557. It was updated periodically, the final edition appearing in 1625. As the title indicates, it had finding aids to facilitate its use by justices of the peace. Holdsworth notes, "[it] is partly of the nature of an edition of the Statutes at large, as the enacting parts of the public statutes in force are printed nearly word.
