See images for condition. About the book >.>.> For more than three centuries the names of MICHEL ANGELO and of RAFFAELLO DA URBINO have been insepar-ably associ…ated, not only in the glowing thoughts of all painters, of all lovers of art, of all venerators of intellectual greatness, but also in the general traditions and ideas of the masses. At the present moment, therefore, when there is spreading throughout the country so vivid a desire to attain a knowledge of the imitative arts, it was conceived that it would be doing the state some service to publish in the universally available form of the EUROPEAN LIBRARY, lives of the two men who may be emphatically described as creators of the revival of Art. A critical biography of Michel Angelo, of a wholly satisfactory nature, already existed, from the pen, well known as a most competent one, of Mr. Duppa. His work, accordingly, is here re-produced entire, with the single difference that I have translated the Italian extracts which he retained in their original form. Of Raffaello, no life.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware - ''A Diary Of A Journey Into North Wales: In The Year 1774'' is a travelogue written by Samuel Johnson, a renowned English writer, poet, and literary critic. The book was originally published in 1816, long after Johnson's death, and it chronicles his travels through North Wales in the year 1…774. In the diary, Johnson describes the people, places, and landscapes he encounters during his journey. He provides vivid descriptions of the Welsh countryside, including the mountains, lakes, and rivers, as well as the towns and villages he visits. He also details his interactions with the locals, including their customs, language, and way of life. Throughout the book, Johnson reflects on his own experiences and observations, offering insights into his own personality and worldview. He also includes anecdotes and stories that highlight the history and culture of Wales. Overall, ''A Diary Of A Journey Into North Wales'' is a fascinating glimpse into the life and travels of one of England's most celebrated writers. It offers a unique perspective on the beauty and richness of Welsh culture and history, as well as Johnson's own thoughts and reflections on the world around him. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
