La méthode de vieillissement accéléré est basée sur le maintien à court terme des semences dans des conditions d'humidité et de température de l'air accrues, et permet de simuler une évaluation rapide et efficace de la force de croissance des cultures dans des conditions de laboratoire, en complément des méthodes standard d'évaluation de la qualité des semences. Elle permet également d'évaluer la capacité à préserver la germination des semences de différentes variétés de maïs dans des conditions de stockage défavorables.
