Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. First Edition (NAP). As you can see, the orange covers are exceptionally clean. They have only a little wear, a little creasing at and around the top edge of the spine (see fifth photo). The book is square and solidly bound from cover to cover. The pages are all exceptionally clean. I don't see any soiling at all anywhere. Nor are there any markings or attachments. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in this book. There is a very light and tiny crease or indent at the very tip of the top corners of the pages. This was likely caused by a mild bump. You can see it, but it's inconspicuous. The dust jacket is in solid condition. As is the case with the book there is some creasing at and around the top edge of the spine. There's also a thin crease off the top edge of the rear cover. There are no tears on the jacket. As you can see, it is very clean. It is NOT price-clipped, not clipped at all, and will be fitted with a protective cover after the photos are scanned. 'The Right Line tells the backstage story, unbelievable, frustrating, at times hilarious, of why Britain's high-speed line took so long, with so many false starts.' 'This story is not just about a railway line, it is a major and wide-ranging work of contemporary history, shining a powerful spotlight on Britain, the British and the way we are governed.'.

Paperback. Condition: Like New. First Edition. A nearly new copy with no defects, just a few hardly noticeable rubs and bumps and a 'damaged' stamp to one of the preliminary pages. Despite such this book looks and feels unread with contents that are crisp, fresh and tight. Thus a very nice book in great condition, now offered for sale at a reasonable price.

Paperback. Condition: New. This book features four peer-reviewed reviews on the development of alternative sources of protein as feed for pigs. The first chapter summarises the nutritional attributes of macroalgae in terms of macro and micronutrients as a source of protein and other compounds in pig nutrition. The chapter also discusses the benefits of macroalgae or macroalgal derived extracts in feed. The second chapter considers the application of corn fermented protein in feed formulations for pigs. The chapter reviews the challenges in producing corn fermented protein and includes a selection of case studies which detail the effects of adding corn fermented protein into the diets of pigs. The third chapter provides an overview of the current state of insect production for pig feed globally and reviews the nutritional, economic and environmental benefits of using insects as feed. The chapter also summarises current research on insects as antimicrobials and life cycle assessments of their rearing. The final chapter discusses the use of black soldier fly (BSF) as an alternative protein source to conventional proteins, such as soya bean meal or fishmeal, in the diets of pigs. The chapter also reviews the benefits and challenges of using BSF in pig diets and highlights what data is still lacking for widespread use of this novel protein.

Paperback. Condition: Very Good. What are the most fundamental differences among the political economies of the developed world? How do national institutional differences condition economic performance, public policy, and social well-being? Will they survive the pressures for convergence generated by globalization and technological change? These have long been central questions in comparative political economy. This book provides a new and coherent set of answers to them. Building on the new economics of organization, the authors develop an important new theory about which differences among national political economies are most significant for economic policy and performance. Drawing on a distinction between 'liberal' and 'coordinated' market economies, they argue that there is more than one path to economic success. Nations need not converge to a single Anglo-American model. They develop a new theory of 'comparative institutional advantage' that transforms our understanding of international trade, offers new explanations for the response of firms and nations to the challenges of globalization, and provides a new theory of national interest to explain the conduct of nations in international relations. The analysis brings the firm back into the centre of comparative political economy. It provides new perspectives on economic and social policy-making that illuminate the role of business in the development of the welfare state and the dilemmas facing those who make economic policy in the contemporary world. Emphasizing the 'institutional complementarities' that link labour relations, corporate finance, and national legal systems, the authors bring interdisciplinary perspectives to bear on issues of strategic management, economic performance, and institutional change. This pathbreaking work sets new agendas in the study of comparative political economy. As such, it will be of value to academics and graduate students in economics, business, and political science, as well as to many others with interests in international relations, social policy-making, and the law. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - How has the process of political representation changed in the era of globalization The representation of interests is at the heart of democracy, but how is it that some interests secure a strong voice, while others do not While each person has multiple interests linked to different dimensions of his or her identity, much of the existing academic literature assumes that interests are given prior to politics by a person's socioeconomic, institutional, or cultural situation. This book mounts a radical challenge to this view, arguing that interests are actively forged through processes of politics. The book develops an analytic framework for understanding how representation takes place - based on processes of identification, mobilization, and adjudication - and explores how these processes have evolved over time. Through a wide variety of case studies, the chapters explore how actors identify their interests, mobilize them into action, and resolve conflicts among them.
