Bei der Mikro-Elektroerosion (micro EDM) kann die Seitenisolierung der Werkzeugelektrode die Bearbeitungsgenauigkeit erheblich verbessern, insbesondere bei Strukturen mit hohem Aspektverhältnis. Ein neuer Ansatz für die Seitenisolierung von Mikroeinzelelektroden, bei dem die Mikrowerkzeugelektroden durch Schleuderbeschichtung und Aushärtung bei Raumtemperatur mit einem sehr dünnen Polymerfilm beschichtet werden, gefolgt von einem Reibverfahren, um das Isoliermaterial von den Elektrodenendflächen zu entfernen.
