The copy of Norman's biography of Pound used as evidence in an unsuccessful infringement-of-copyright lawsuit brought by the author against CBS over its three-part television show based on the life of Ezra Pound that aired Feb. - Mar. 1966. The court dismissed the complaint, quoting the words of Judge Learned Hand: "There cannot be any such thing as copyright in the order of presentation of the facts, nor, indeed, in their selection, although into that selection may go the highest genius of authorship, for indeed, history depends wholly upon a selection from the undifferentiated mass of recorded facts" (Annual Report of the Librarian of Congress for 1972, pp.68-69, 1973). LABEL AFFIXED TO FRONT ENDPAPER indentifying this copy as "EXHIBIT I/ Attached to complaint verified/ March 10, 1966, in Re:/ Charles Norman vs. The Columbia/ Broadcasting System, Inc., et al."
