The book highlights the "Delsartean method" of elocution pioneered by François Delsarte to teach people how to speak and sing expressively. The musical numbers in the book were collected and arranged by George Vickers, composer of "Guard the Flag" and "Poems of the Occident," highlighted here as popular songs of the time. The book features several illustrations highlighting the Delsartean approach to elocution or public speaking. This copy is in Good condition, with mild wear to the covers and some faint stains.
