Breviarium Romanum — Complete Four-Volume Set, Desclée & Socii, Rome-Tournai-Paris A beautifully complete set of the Roman Breviary in four volumes — Pars Verna (Spring), Pars Æstiva (Summer), Pars Autumnalis (Autumn), and Pars Hiemalis (Winter) — published by Desclée & Socii, printers to the Holy See and the Sacred Congregation of Rites. This is the editio juxta typicam amplificata, restored per the Council of Trent under St. Pius V and reformed under Pius X — the standard pre-conciliar Latin breviary used by priests and religious for the daily Divine Office. What makes this set special: Uniform binding across all four volumes — supple black leather with gilt-lettered spines reading "Breviarium Romanum" and the season name (Verna, Æstiva, Autumnalis, Hiemalis), raised bands, and beautifully burnished gilt page edges that still glow gold. A rainbow of silk ribbon markers — each volume is fitted with multiple colored grosgrain ribbons (green, blue, purple, orange, red), a hallmark of a breviary that was seriously and lovingly used for daily prayer, letting the reader navigate psalms, propers, and commons at a glance. Honest, characterful wear — softened corners, a touch of spine rubbing, and the gentle bow of covers that comes from decades of being opened, carried, and prayed from. This is not a shelf ornament; it's a book that did its job. Complete set — all four seasonal volumes present and matching, which is increasingly hard to find intact as sets get broken up and sold off individually. A note for the discerning collector: the text block includes the office for St. Pius X as Confessor — worth double-checking against the exact print date, since his canonization came later in the 20th century; a quick look at the colophon/imprimatur page will confirm the precise year of this printing. Whether for liturgical use, as a devotional heirloom, or as a striking addition to a collection of ecclesiastical printing, this set offers the tactile richness of old-world bookmaking — hand-tooled leather, gilt edges, and ribbon markers in a full rainbow — paired with the gravity of a text that shaped centuries of daily prayer. …
