    Condition: Fine. St. Petersburg 1894 first edition. Tepografia P P Sikena .Three 4to hardcover volumes with 2 volumes bound in each volume. Matching bindings of dark green cloth with gilt lettering. Original pale lilac end papers. 635p, 615p, 571p, 598p., 587p, LII, 547p. Fine fullpage engraved portrait plate of Pisarev as frontispiece in volume 6. Good Plus, Binding nice and secure; no hinges cracked in or out. Except for one lone short closed tear which has been professionally repaired with no loss of text at all, there are no tears and no chips. Text toned lightly, evenly. Properly de-accessioned stamps on tps. No other ownership marks - no bookplates, no pockets, no labels, no signatures. Light cover wear, extreme tips lightly worn and some tips are lightly bent inward. Very Scarce. Pisarov , 1840 - 1868 (possibly a suicide) was the leading figure in Russian nilhilism. "Smash all that can be smashed!" Apparently Lenin was known to have quoted Pisarev. Dostoyevksy's "Crime and Punishment" was a critical examination of Pisarev's ideas.
