Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware - 'The New Book-Illustration in France' provides a comprehensive survey of the artistic renaissance in French publishing during the early twentieth century. Written by Léon Pichon, a pivotal figure in the Parisian printing and publishing scene, this work explores the dynamic shifts in aesthet…ic trends and technical innovations that redefined the book as a work of art. The study highlights the transition from traditional wood engraving to more modern techniques, including lithography and etching, which allowed for a more integrated and expressive relationship between text and imagery. This volume serves as an essential record of the diverse styles that emerged during the post-war period, capturing the creative spirit of a generation of artists dedicated to the craft of book design. From the intricate details of bibliophilic editions to the bold visual language of contemporary illustrators, the work examines the contributions of key figures who shaped the visual identity of French literature. Leon Pichon offers deep insights into the collaboration between authors, artists, and craftsmen, making 'The New Book-Illustration in France' a valuable resource for historians of art, graphic design enthusiasts, and collectors of fine books. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
