Er war zweimal verheiratet und hatte aus erster Ehe drei Töchter, die zu Hause getauft wurden. Am bekanntesten ist er für seine Zeichnungen von Amsterdamer Gebäuden in seinem ?Grachtenboek?, doch bestehen ernsthafte Zweifel an seiner Beteiligung daran.
