Es hat mir leidgethan das Werk zurückzubekommen. Anbei erhalten Sie meinen gemischten Chor Op. 15. Wir haben denselben kürzlich aufgeführt und ich habe mich aufrichtig sehr über dessen Wirkung gefreut [.]". - Der Sohn eines deutschen Organisten studierte am Lütticher Konservatorium, wurde 1869 Musikdirektor in Essen und lebte seit 1871 in Berlin. "Er unterrichtete dort Klavier und Partiturspiel am Sternschen Konservatorium, wurde Senatsmitglied in der Akademie der Künste und stellvertretender Präsident der Genossenschaft deutscher Tonsetzer. Rüfer komponierte Orchesterstücke, Kammermusik sowie die Opern 'Merlin' (1887) und 'Ingo' (1896) (DBE). - Auf Briefpapier mit gepr. Monogramm.
