Paperback. Condition: New. How are great turning points in history experienced by individuals? As Britain pulls away from Europe great British writers come together to give voice to their innermost feelings. These writers include novelists, writers of books for children, of comic books, humourists, historians, biographers, nature… writers, film writers, travel writers, writers young and old and from an extraordinary range of backgrounds. Most are famous perhaps because they have won the Booker or other literary prizes, written bestsellers, changed the face of popular culture or sold millions of records. Others are not yet household names but write with depth of insight and feeling. There is some extraordinary writing in this book. Some of these pieces are expressions of love of particular places in Europe. Some are true stories, some nostalgic, some hopeful. Some are cries of pain. There are hilarious pieces. There are cries of pain and regret. Some pieces are quietly devastating. All are passionate.Conceived as a love letter to Europe, this book may also help reawaken love for Britain. It shows the unique richness and diversity of British cultures, a multitude of voices in harmony.Contributors include:Hugh Aldersey-Williams, Philip Ardagh, Jake Arnott, Patricia Atkinson, Paul Atterbury, Richard Beard, Mary Beard, Don Boyd, Melvyn Bragg, Gyles Brandreth, Kathleen Burke, James Buxton, Philip Carr, Brian Catling, Shami Chakrabarti, Chris Cleave, Mark Cocker, Peter Conradi , Heather Cooper, Frank Cottrell-Boyce, Roger Crowley, David Crystal, William Dalrymple, Lindsey Davies, Margaret Drabble, Mark Ellen, Richard Evans, Michel Faber, Sebastian Faulks, Ranulph Fiennes, Robert Fox, James Fox, Neil Gaiman, Evelyn Glennie, James Hanning, Nick Hayes, Alan Hollinghurst, Gabby Hutchinson-Crouch, Will Hutton, Robert Irwin, Holly Johnson , Liane Jones, Ruth Jones, Sam Jordison, Kapka Kassabova, AL Kennedy, Hermione Lee, Prue Leith, Patrick Lenox, Roger Lewis, David Lindo, Penelope Lively, Beth Lync, Richard Mabey, Sue MacGregor, Ian Martin, Frank McDonough, Jonathan Meades, Andrew Miller, Deborah Moggach, Ben Moor, Alan Moore, Paul Morley, Jackie Morris, Charles Nicholl, Richard Overy, Chris Riddell, Adam Roberts, Tony Robinson, Lee Rourke, Sophie Sabbage, Marcus Sedgwick, Richard Shirreff, Paul Stanford, Isy Suttie, Sandi Toksvig, Colin Tudge, Ed Vulliamy, Anna Whitelock, Kate Williams, Michael Wood, Louisa Young.

Contact seller5-star sellerThree vintage borderless reference photographs from the 1961 B-film. All three with the stamp of International Films on the verso, along with manuscript ink and pencil annotations noting the film's title. The only material we have ever handled from a film released by Sonney Amusement Enterprises or directed by the notorious low-…budget director Peter Perry, Jr. Honeymooners on a supposedly abandoned beach on remote Thunder Island soon discover the island is not as abandoned as it appears. A notable horror cheapie that indulges early "nudie"-style sexploitation as well as "auteur" trappings (such as a title card reading "Finis" even though the film is an American production). Set in Las Vegas and on Thunder Island. 9.25 x 7 inches. Very Good overall.

Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. The wades town hold-up is a trip back in time to 1909 by a railway enthusiast from New Zealand to experience what it was like to ride the trains plus meet some of the people whose lives become involved with them. Everything was new then and trains were the only alternative to the horse and t…rap. The story is set in Wellington New Zealand in 1909, when the world was a different place but human beings were not that different from people today. Nothing has changed in human desires, emotions and ambitions. The only thing that has changed is the lowering of societies values and what was considered unseemly is commonplace today. Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. My poems are a collection of joy, amazement, pain, grief, exhilaration and dreams and visions. Each one is an expression of a certain time, an event, a person, or maybe an illusion. My Anishinabe and Dakota elders, my family, my mentors have all had an impact on my work over a 30 year period…. My perspective, as many Native perspectives do, has a unique lens. This lens offers a landscape not often seen by many, but easily identified as the deep, dark, and sometimes dead soul of many an Indian man. They say we came from the sky, and from the earth. I say we were not born of Adam and Eve, nor from Noah, or the Tribes of Israel. Maybe in my Poems from the Deep you will see where we come from and who we truly are, or maybe you will only see me. Come with me, don't be afraid, I'll bring you back. Wopida Tanka Ihetchetu Wana. (Now that is all, Thank you) r.p.leith This item is printed on demand.
