Soft cover. Condition: New. Raising a child is a tough job. The job has two major components, parenting and teaching. It is an onerous task and the two communities in the forefront of it are the parents and teachers. The efforts of the two groups run complementary to each other, as both are well-wishers of children and share a common objective. There is, therefore, need for a strong partnership between the two communities. They have to share each other's stories and concerns about the child. Let Them Fly has 25 stories, each based on true-life experiences about raising a child and attending to its psychological and academic needs in the contemporary social and scholastic milieu. The book contains no abstract theories but actual case studies. This makes it a unique presentation. The stories are drawn from a diverse set of geographies and social strata. The experiences shared in this book are from sleepy rural centres, as also from boisterous metros. Yet, typical of a parent or teacher from any background, their concerns could be the same. The stories are written in simple and easy language. The book does not nit-pick either the teachers or parents, but brings out the sensitivity on issues about growing up. Each story ends with a conclusion, suggesting a more appropriate alternate course.

Hardbound. Condition: As New. New. Contents Preface. 1. Insecticide resistance management in cotton. 2. Integrated pest management implementation and impact. 3. Evaluation research a theoretical view. 4. Methodology for formative evaluation. 5. Evaluation of the insecticide resistance management programme. 6. Summary and conclusion. Appendices. Bibliography. Index. There is scanty information available about the impact of different Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programmes implemented in India since 1974 75 and whatever information is documented is based on the project reports of the implementing agencies which lack rigorousness of social science research based on scientific methods to measure the implementation and outcome of IPM Programmes for decision making purposes. The importance of evaluation research to determine the merit and worth of agricultural programmes in general and IPM programme in particular has not caught the attention of programme planners and programme implementing agencies in India as is the case with developed countries of the world. Programme evaluation evolved primarily in the United States of America and became a semi professional discipline. The book Evaluation of Insecticide Resistance Management Programme Theory and Practice is about Insecticide Resistance Management (IRM) based IPM programme. The methodologies for evaluation of IPM programmes are documented in the book. It covers the content and process areas of IRM programme implemented in ten cotton growing states of India by the Ministry of Agriculture Government of India under the Technology Mission on Cotton (TMC) Mini Mission (MM II) programme since 2002. The development implementation and impact of IPM programmes is discussed in the book. The book gives an overview of cotton growing scenario in India and the losses caused by insect pests. The outcome of formative evaluation of IRM programme in Punjab is presented as a case study. The book shall serve the biological scientists (entomologists) and social scientists (extension educationists anthropologists and economists) associated with IPM innovation development process. It will provide the feedback to agriculture policy planners about the worth of IPM programmes at farmers level and the role of evaluation research in agricultural programmes. The book is a significant contribution of the extension education discipline to the multidisciplinary field of IPM. At post graduate level the students will find the book as a useful guide for planning and conducting diffusion and evaluation research in the dynamic field of IPM. 278 pp.

Hardcover. Condition: new. Hardcover. Integrated Pest Management Dissemination and Impact, Volume 2 is a sequel to Integrated Pest Management Innovation-DevelopmentProcess, Volume 1. The book focuses on the IPM systems in the developed countries of North America, Europe and Australia, and the developing countries of Asia, Latin America and Africa. One of the major impedimentsin the dissemination and adoption of the IPM innovation is the complexity of the technology and reaching the vast population of farmers especially in the developing countries. The IPM-innovation development process is incomplete without the diffusion and adoption of IPM methods by the end users, and through its consequences. In spite of all the efforts in the developed and developing countries, the adoption of IPM is still low with few exceptions. The book covers the underlying concepts and methodologies of the diffusion of innovation theory and the program evaluation; and reviews the progress and impact of IPM programs implemented in the industrialized, the green revolution and the subsistence agricultural systems of the world. Forty-four experts from entomology, plant pathology, environmental science, agronomy, anthropology, economics and extensioneducationfromAfrica, Asia, Australia, Europe,NorthAmerica and South America have discussed impact of IPM with an interdisciplinary perspective. Each one of the experts is an authority in his or her eld of expertise.
