Recipes appear to have been gathered from a recipe contest sponsored by the newspaper. The 'Omaha Bee' was a newspaper founded in 1871 by Jewish immigrant and Union soldier Edward Rosewater. In 1927, the newspaper merged with the 'Omaha Daily News' to become the 'Omaha Bee-News.' The 'Bee-News' was sold to William Randolph Hearst in 1928.
