With two essays; a historical study of the System, and a second dedicated to the design and construction of the Eccles Building, a competition won by Paul Cret. First edition. 28 cm; 24 pp.; illustr. from photographs and drawings. A very good copy or better in pictorial wrappers.

Ex-library, with library markings limited to ghost of label at foot of spine, library bookplate and cancellation stamp at front pastedown, unobtrusive stamps at verso of title page and recto of following leaf, ghost of slip to rear free endpaper, and cancellation stamp and small scar from removal of label at rear pastedown. Publisher's binding good, though faded and somewhat scuffed, gold-stamped lettering and device at front panel and lettering at spine dull; library markings as above else text and photographs very good. 2900 grams.

An important work by this fine architectural firm, illustrating in detail 34 country homes, mansions and gardens they designed, many in the Philadelphia area, others in the surrounding states. The illustrations include ornament, interiors, some with furnishings, exterior views, and very detailed plans and drawings. A picture of this book is available on request.

Boards have bumping to corners, mild discoloration, and light scuff marks. Lower right corner of front cover is creased, back free endpaper is detached, near fine. An attractive, near fine copy featuring detailed photographs, maps, plans, and tables.
