Hardcover. Condition: Fair. Billinghurst, P. J.; Lumley, Savile; Cobb, Ruth; Ogle, R. B.; et al. (illustrator). Publication date unknown - other listings state 1967; it seems much older. Founded in 1866. Cover is heavily worn at corners and edges, has some scratches/discoloration on front, blue marker streaks on back. Previous owner's name written on first page. Cover semi-detached from pages - spinal mesh visible at inner corners. Pages are clean but age toned. Pictures available upon request.

Condition: Good. First edition hard back binding in publisher's original colour illustrated paper covered boards, emerald green thin linen cloth spine, Playbox advertisement to the rear cover. Quarto. 9½'' x 7¾''. Contains 208 pp with monochrome, single and twin colour illustrations and 4 full-page colour plates throughout. Inside front and rear hinges cracked and repaired, ink message dated 1928 to the front free end paper and in Good condition. Playbox 1st series had 2 issues in 1898. Playbox 2nd series ran from 1905-1913. Playbox 3rd series (merged with Jack and Jill) ran from 1925-1955. The 2nd and 3rd series realised 48 annuals from 1909 to 1956. Member of the P.B.F.A. ANNUALS & YEARBOOKS.
