Henderson." Interior pages are clean. Binding is firm. Rated as "Restricted" upon front cover and title page. Page iii Foreword by General George C. Marshall credits the booklet's compilation to Lt. Colonel Russel P. Reeder, Jr. (actually Russell P. Reeder, Jr.) in order "To secure the point of view of the fighting men in the Solomon Islands . . . [discussing] with many officers and soldiers their experiences in jungle fighting against the Japanese." Pages 32-37 feature comments and analysis by Lieutenant Colonel L.B. Puller (Lewis Burwell "Chesty" Puller) who eventually rose to USMC Lieutenant General. Book's original owner was Alpheus Lester Henderson, 1896-1986, who rose to the rank of U.S. Army brigadier general and was a veteran of both world wars. During WWII he commanded the 101st Coast Artillery Battalion Antiaircraft and was post-war Provost Marshal of Yokohama where he had charge of General Tojo. This item was acquired from the Tupelo, Mississippi estate of his adopted daughter Diane Evans Henderson Tannehill, 1932-2012.…
