Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book is a comprehensive study of the complex movements of the human heart. It re-examines established theories on how the heart's motions occur by analyzing the physical forces that determine the shape and position of the heart as it beats. The author presents evidence that the heart's movements are primarily driven by the changing pressure within its chambers, rather than by the contraction of its muscle fibers or the recoil of the arteries. This challenges the long-held belief that the heart's rotation and downward motion are caused by the twisting and uncoiling of its spiral muscle fibers. The author's findings have implications for our understanding of the heart's function and the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease. They also provide a new perspective on the fundamental principles that govern the movement of all elastic-walled bodies with fluid-filled interiors. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
