Papierbedingt leicht gebräunt. - Der tabische Krankheitsprozeß zerstört im wesentlichen das Gebiet der hinteren Wurzeln und ihrer zentralen Fortsetzungen und vernichtet auf diese Weise den peripherogenen (sensiblen) Zustrom von den einzelnen Körperteile…n zu den motorischen Zentren des Großhirns, Kleinhirns und Rückenmarks, während die motorischenLeitungs- wege selbst in der Hauptsache intakt bleiben. Daher ist die motorische Erregbarkeit der einzelnen Muskelgruppen an sich erhalten und kann vom Willen her jederzeit effektuiert werden. Aber alle diejenigen Muskelinnervationen, die in der Norm nicht direkt willkürlich bedingt sind, sondern unwillkürlich, erst auf sensible, während der Ausführung der Bewegung entstehende und den motorischen Zentren zugeführte Anregungen hin erfolgen, unterbleiben bei der Tabes ganz oder sind doch nur mangelhaft, weil der Anstoß zur Innervationserteilung fehlt. Dahin gehört z. B. die Mitinnervation der Antagonisten, der kollateralen und rotatorischen Synergisten bei einer Bewegung, dahin gehören ferner die meisten einzelnen Muskelinnervationen, aus denen sich alle komplexen Muskelleistungen, wie das Stehen, Gehen, Aufstehen, Hinsetzen, ferner alle Verrichtungen der oberen Extremitäten zusammensetzen. This is one of three hundred scientific works written by Foerster and reflects his primary professional activity as a clinical neurologist. It is strikin…gly illustrated with photographic illustrations. Written when the author was 29 years old. Otfrid Foerster was the son of a professor of archeology who took his MD in 1897 at Breslau. He was head of the neurological department of a municipal hospital - the Wenzel Hancke Krankenhaus - which in 1934 with the help of the Rockefeller Foundation was built into a neurological institute which bears his name. Most of his career was as a clinical neurologist but he began the practice of neurosurgery at the age of forty.
