Condition: New. 2006 N&M Press reprint (original pub1827). SB. xv+ 86pp +2 maps .Published Price £14.50 This book is a brief account of one of Napoleonâs most brilliant victories written in 1827 by an un-named British officer who was attached to the defeated Prussians as an observer. Although lamenting the defeat of Britainâs a…lly - after which Prussia was compelled to make peace at the French Emperorâs dictation - the officer, an artilleryman, cannot withold his admiration for Napoleonâs military genius. His account is backed by several pages of engraved maps, together with appendices detailing orders of the day, and orders of battle.

2pp., 12mo. Bifolium. In good condition, lightly aged and worn. Addressed on reverse of second leaf, with Stewart's seal in red wax, to 'Mr. Knobel | Wine Merchant | South Audley Street'. He asks Knobel to 'send a person & a Hamper to pack up three dozen of wine & ale left at the Major General's for the Country, as before'. He a…sks for the hamper to be sent, 'so packed & sealed, together with 3 dozen hamper of His, (Mr. Knobel's) best Port ready for immediate drinking by the Hoy to Woodbridge in Suffolk, as last winter'. He concludes by complaining that, while the 'last Port sent was old & good', it had 'too much sediment for carriage, or for immediate use'. For Stewart's time in Woodbridge, see the 'Cumloden Papers' (Edinburgh, 1871), p.92.
