Born in Gisborne in 1920 she attended Elam School of Fine Arts, Auckland , married artist Angelo Nigro in 1942, moving to Sydney in 1946, eventually returning to NZ permanantly, later visiting Europe. She became a versatile and accomplished artist in various mediums and is best known for her skill in portraying the human figure. While the majority of the paintings illustrating her biography are her own works, those of others, mainly her contemporaries, are also used, photographs and drawings etc are also included. A fine work telling the story of an atist's life and of her artistic achievements. Ink "Jan Nigro" on half-title. First edition of 1996, 207 pages including notes for text an illustrations, biographical chronology and acknowledgements, colour art reproductions throughout, often several images to a page, numerous b/w art and photos.
