Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair. 1st Edition. Circling back to what are now a group of books recently listed about India, here's another: "Interview with India" by John Frederick Muehl. Quoting from the flap of the dust jacket: "We know of no American who has gone so deeply into India and the life of… its people as has the author of this book. He got out of the cities and off the beaten paths as fast and as often as he could. Sometimes alone, sometimes in a caravan, he traveled on foot or horseback, by boat, in a bullock cart, or riding pillion on a camel. But what he writes is not a book of travel. It is in the truest sense what the title indicates. He interviewed the village people, landlords, money-lenders, local magistrates, camel drivers, refugees from Pakistan, the little bureaucrats, the good political leaders and the bad, the prince and the beggar." Condition: This book is in very good condition. The dust jacket, however, has suffered a bit and is split along the leading edge, and torn and chipped at corners and spine tips. It is still largely whole and doing its job. That explains in part why the hard covers are generally clean, bright and showing only the most minimal of bumping. Inside, the book is unmarked and the pages are bright and clean, without toning or foxing. Both hinges are intact and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
