Some fading and patches of scuffing and discolouration but much of the original colouring is still visible and title is very clear on front board and spine. Signs of rubbing and shelf-wear. Corners bumped and a little torn. Binding holding although crack to front inner hinge and FFEP a bit loose. Page edges browned and some are a little uneven. Previous owner name written in pencil on inside of FFEP. Otherwise page surfaces are free of any underlining, marginalia, etc. though there are odd marks here and there. See pictures for further information. Circa 1893. n.

A very good first illustrated edition thus, first impression, first printing of Frances Hodgson Burnett¿s well known book Little Lord Fauntleroy in hardback cloth covers, published in Great Britain by Frederick Warne & Co in 1892. This book has blue cloth covered boards, titles in gold and black on the cover and spine with decorated beige end papers. The book has no marks, bumps or writing over its 269 pages plus a 6 page publisher¿s list. The pages themselves on heavy quality paper are in fine condition with no fading or marking, apart from a smidge on the third page of the list of illustrations and some spots on the book¿s front edge. The copyright page shows Copyright: Entered at Stationer¿s Hall on 9th Nov 1886. This illustrated edition of 1892 has 26 illustrations with many full sized, from drawings by Reginald B Birch, including a tissue guarded frontispiece and a vignette on the title page. The book cover is worn at each of the corners and at the top and bottom of the spine. The cover is coming away from the end papers internally and the front end paper is missing. The spine is not as fresh as the front cover. The front cover itself has a fine coloured stamped image of Little Lord Fauntleroy with his dog in the Big House with the Old Earl.
