A book and a pamphlet documenting the life of showgirl-turned-Christian evangelist Ruth Baker Cross. Born into a Jewish family, Cross grew up in a series of abusive foster homes before finding success as a showgirl, dancer, and singer in clubs along the East Coast, as well as California and Vegas. She chronicles all of the glamo…r, superficiality, and emptiness that club life provided her, as well as her life as a mother of four children, and ultimately her marriage to drummer Dick Cross. The Cross' became Christians and founded a ministry witnessing to prisoners and the homeless. From Showgirl to Skid Row is Cross' 300+ page biography written by poet Corliss Morris. Also included is a pamphlet that provides Cross' abridged biography and an interview with Chaplain Ray. Both titles include many photographs of Cross as an entertainer and as an evangelist and both are inscribed by Cross to different recipients.
