Contemporary matching full light brown leather bindings; surface scuffing/peeling to boards with slender wear along edges particularly at corners; spines retain their gilt lettered title labels along with dark blue "J.B. Morgan"…name labels and "29" and "30" number labels. *** VOLUME I. Paged as i-xvi, 17-600. Front pastedown bookplate for Library of University of Mississippi but without notations as to cost, bookcase, shelf, etc. so perhaps never accessioned; occasional pencil margin marks and pencil underlining amongst text; varied foxing/toning throughout. Binding is firm. *** VOLUME II. Paged as i-viii, 601-1004 (in succession to Vol. I). No Ole Miss bookplate nor any pencils markings readily apparent upon a cursory perusal; does share varied foxing/toning throughout. Binding also firm. *** Acquired from a Hernando, Mississippi estate which, via the aforementioned spine name labels, allows for an ownership attribution to Hernando attorney and Civil War veteran James Bright Morgan (1833-1892) who rose to Colonel in the 29th Mississippi Infantry regiment and was elected to three terms to the United States House of Representatives serving from March 4, 1885 to March 3, 1891. *** Please note that this set has an approximate shipping weight of 4.5 pounds (2 kg) and may require additional postage for any postal class other than domestic Media Mail.
