The only other copy we know of is in the collection of the British Museum (which they acquired in 1901), and they describe as follows: "Copy of self-portrait of Hogarth painting the Comic Muse, after the painting in the National Portrait Gallery; the artist is seated looking to right, wearing an indoor cap and a loose coat, he holds a palette, brushes and palette knife while a pot of oil is on the floor beside the chair; in a niche in the wall behind the easel is a volume of prints and a burin; leaning against the leg of the easel, a copy of the "Analysis of Beauty" and the accompanying print, Plate I (Paulson 195); illustration to James Hannay's 'The Complete Works of William Hogarth' . Lettered with facsimile of artist's autograph as title, and: 'J Moore Sc. - Engraved by J. Moore, SC. Light foxing of extremities, otherwise quite good.
