Die Rechtfertigung dafur, diese beiden von den theoretischen Grundlagen her jeweils weitgehend in sich geschlossenen Themenkreise in einem Buch zu behandeln, laßt sich aus der verfahrenstechnischen Praxis ableiten. So ist es oft ein und dieselbe Anlage, in der beispielsweise Probleme der pneumatischen Farderung und des Ausfließens von Schutt gutern aus Silos auftreten; dementsprechend ist auch in vielen Fallen ein und dieselbe Person fur die Lasung beider Teilaufgaben ver an twortlich. Feststoffbeladene Stramungen sind Gegenstand praxisorientierter wissenschaftlicher Untersuchungen seit Anfang dieses Jahrhunderts. Man mag deren Beginn in etwa festlegen mit den Untersuchungen von Miss N.S. Blatch [1] im Jahre 1906. Wenigstens soweit es fur die Praxis auswertbare Aussagen betrifft, war die bisherige Forschung weitgehend durch die Sammlung von Daten und deren Darstellung mittels mehr oder weniger empirischer Korre lationen gekennzeichnet, wobei es nicht gelang, beispielsweise zwi schen den bei pneumatischer Farderung bzw. bei hydraulischer Farde rung gewonnenen Erkenntnissen uberzeugende Verbindungen herzustellen. Es war daher ein yom Verfasser seit Grundung des Erlanger Lehrstuhls fur Mechanische Verfahrenstechnik im Jahre 1968 hartnackig verfolg tes Ziel, diesen insbesondere fur eine wissenschaftliche akademische Lehre unbefriedigenden Stand der Kenntnisse zu uberwinden.
