It belongs to the wider post-al-Haik manuscript transmission of the text; the earliest identified witness is the Dawudiyya copy in Tetouan, dated 1202 H, which is the oldest copy by al-Haik or gathered by him, by order of Prince Moulay Abd al-Salam. The present manuscript post-dates that early Dawudiyya copy, but pre-dates the Rabat manuscript dated 1329 H. The MS in the Bibliothèque nationale is dated 1335 H, and later copies are dated 1350 and 1353 H. - This manuscript is especially significant for preserving the introductory material, a section absent from, defective, or transmitted differently in some later witnesses. As a document of Moroccan Andalusi music, the volume is unusually rich.
