His 30 years of service in the U.S. Army included two combat tours, a variety assignments, and instructor duty at the U.S. Military Academy and the School of Advanced Military Studies at Fort Leavenworth. Dr. Johnson's research addresses Army transformation. He holds a B.S. from the U.S. Military Academy, a M.A. in History from the University of Michigan, and a Ph.D. in History from Temple University. He holds a diploma from the U.S. Army War College. The topic of Women in Combat has been one of great emotion, but uncertain factual content until recently.
