Sie beschlossen, ein Ja…hr Auszeit zu nehmen ¿ die Idee der ¿Sabbattour¿ war geboren. Während Simones Lehrerberuf ein Sabbatjahr ermöglichte, musste Harry seinen langjährigen Arbeitsplatz als Bauleiter aufgeben. ¿Mit dem Fahrrad um Europa, mit dem Rucksack um die Welt¿, lautete ihre Marschroute. Das erste avisierte Ziel war das Schwarze Meer, dann sollte es der Nase nach weitergehen. Der Weg führte sie zunächst nach Ost- und Südeuropa, anschließend nach Patagonien, Neuseeland und Südostasien. Wieder zurück auf dem europäischen Kontinent wurde die Schleife rund um Europa west- und nordwärts fortgesetzt, ehe sie über das Baltikum und Polen radelnd nach mehr als einem Jahr wieder zu Hause eintrafen. Ihr Blick über den Fahrradlenker galt besonders den Menschen, Kulturen und geschichtlichen Hintergründen. Eine Reise, die nicht nur um die Welt, sondern auch zu sich selbst führte.
