Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware - In 1915, a 38-year-old banker from rural Pennsylvania named Louis Thomas McFadden was seated in the US House. Well-read, intelligent, and diligent, he quickly made his mark in Washington. Appointed chair of the House Banking Committee in 1920, and as author of the 'McFadden Act' in 1927, he soon became one of the leading financial figures in the US.And yet, by the late 1920s, McFadden had become disillusioned about the government-specifically, about the newly-created Federal Reserve and about the role of both Hoover and Roosevelt in evident political corruption. He was not shy about naming the source of the problem: 'international financiers,' 'international bankers,' and eventually, 'Jews.' Thus it happened that, between 1930 and 1934, McFadden made a number of astonishing speeches on the floor of the House, frequently naming Jews and the Jewish Lobby as profound dangers to America. Every word that McFadden spoke was recorded in the Congressional Record; the most relevant parts of 14 speeches are reprinted here, many for the first time. Collectively, they indicate a deep and far-reaching corruption at the heart of the American financial system.McFadden's words have many implications in the present day. We cannot brush him aside with thoughts of 'but that was 90 years ago' or 'that can't happen today.' Every problem that he identified in the 1930s is vastly worse today; we deal with all the same issues and with the same malicious Jewish Lobby. There are lessons here for us all.…

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the intricacies of rural credit systems and their pivotal role in supporting agricultural development. Set against the backdrop of early 20th-century America, the author, a seasoned deposit banker, passionately argues for the establishment of a cooperative farm credit system based on personal security rather than land mortgages. Drawing inspiration from successful European models, particularly the CrÃÂ dit Agricole of France, the author proposes a system that utilizes bills of exchange to broaden the market for agricultural paper, reduce management expenses, and enhance the overall banking system. The book meticulously outlines the structure and function of this proposed system, encompassing a central bank, state-level branches, and local associations. It emphasizes the importance of cooperative principles in capitalizing the system and ensuring equitable access to credit for farmers. Addressing the limitations of deposit banking in meeting the long-term credit needs of agriculture, the author underscores the significance of aligning credit instruments with the production cycles of agricultural activities. Furthermore, the book explores the potential market for farm paper among wage earners, corporations, and life insurance companies, highlighting the stability and security of such investments. The author's insights into the cooperative approach to capital accumulation and the utilization of bills of exchange offer a compelling vision for a more efficient and responsive rural credit system. By advocating for a system tailored to the unique requirements of agriculture, this book underscores the critical link between access to credit and the prosperity of rural communities. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…

Later printing. A posthumously compiled selection of congressional speeches by Pennsylvania Republican Louis T. McFadden attacking the Federal Reserve System as an unconstitutional private banking monopoly. McFadden-a banker, longtime chairman of the House Committee on Banking and Currency, and principal sponsor of the 1927 act that permanently rechartered the Federal Reserve Banks-became one of the institution's most vehement opponents during the Depression. Drawing principally upon speeches delivered between 1932 and 1934, the pamphlet charges that the Federal Reserve deliberately impoverished Americans, transferred the nation's wealth overseas, financed speculation and foreign revolutions, and subordinated the government to an international banking conspiracy. Legitimate Depression-era disputes over monetary policy and banking accountability are progressively absorbed into McFadden's conspiratorial and antisemitic worldview, with repeated accusations against "European-born bankers," Kuhn, Loeb & Company, Colonel Edward M. House, Paul Warburg, and other supposed agents of an international financial power. McFadden calls for abolition of the Federal Reserve, investigation of its officers, restoration of congressional control over money, and a "divorce of Bank and State." The publishing history is easily confused. Although the title identifies the contents as "Remarks in Congress, 1934," this undated Forum Publishing edition cannot have appeared that year: it concludes with "Attacks on McFadden's Life Reported," an article drawn from William Dudley Pelley's antisemitic "Pelley's Weekly" of October 14, 1936. That appendix represents McFadden as the victim of repeated assassination attempts and insinuates that his death was engineered by the financial interests he opposed, transforming the speeches into a martyr narrative. The work was reissued by the conspiratorial press Omni Publications around 1967 and incorporated into its substantially enlarged Collective Speeches of Congressman Louis T. McFadden in 1970. Stapled wrappers printed in blue, 64 pp. A fine copy. In SIBA.…
