"E' un diligente e vivace opuscolo, con appunti vari di storia d'arte e di toponomastica, pubblicato nel primo centenario napoleonico. Ricorda l'eroico episodio di monte Legino o monte Negino dell'11 aprile l'A. passa a descriÂvere con ricchezza di particolari l'azione di Montenotte (12 aprile 1796) con la quale il genio napoleonico rompeva fulmineamente il fronte austro-sardo e apriva una serie mirabile di vittorie e di trionfi. Ã ricordato anche l'epico episodio di Cosseria, ove trovo' morte gloriosa il marchese Filippo del Carretto colonnello dei granatieri sardi, uno degli ultimi Aleramidi avventurosi. L'opuscolo reca inoltre la riproduzione di un quadro, finora ignoto, del pittore savonese Gerolamo Brusco rappresentante l'esordio della battaglia di Montenotte.
