O livro revela como as violências simbólicas e institucionais vivenciadas pela população LGBTQIAPN+ atravessam a saúde, pontuando a necessidade de rever práticas para um atendimento mais respeitoso e alinhado à diversidade e pluralidade. Com prefácio de Suzy Brasil, a obra coletiva pontua, por exemplo, "a saúde de pessoas trans, o impacto da hormonização no rastreio oncológico, a relação entre identidade de gênero e sofrimento nos exames". Segundo os autores da obra, para que a oncologia seja efetivamente inclusiva e equitativa, um espaço de cura, é preciso fazer com que a pessoa se reconheça "no cuidado que recebe". Por isso, reafirmam que o conhecimento científico, a empatia, o respeito à diversidade devem caminhar ao lado de abordagens sensíveis que "promovam o acolhimento integral e respeitem as múltiplas dimensões" das identidades.
