A portfolio containing 30 two-color cartoon lithographs and one three color illustrated title page, all by Marcel Vertes, and measuring 20 by 13.5 inches (51 by 35 cm.). In addition, there is a Preface by Roger Peyrefitte, and a list of captions to the cartoons in English. (The French captions are written on the lithographs by Vertes). Limited to 331 copies, of which 278 copies are numbered from 24 to 301, of which this is number 221. INSCRIBED BY VERTES ON THE HALF-TITLE, WITH A DRAWING OF A DOVE WITH AN OLIVE LEAF IN ITS BILL. Internally fine. The portfolio, of cloth-backed boards, is soiled and worn, and torn in places on the hinges, but has protected the lithographs perfectly. Vertes won Academy Awards for his costumes and design for the 1952 film Moulin Rouge. Marcel Vertes (illustrator). Inscribed by Illustrator(s).

Bien complet des trente planches plus la planche interdite "Ever since he became impotent he's devoted himself to abstraction". Caricatures fines et amusantes des peintres abstraits, leur mondanité, l'incompréhension du public, etc. Manquent le dessin original et le croquis. Bel état intérieur malgré des rousseurs à la page de titre et aux planches de légende (en anglais) et quelques reports au dos des planches. Non rogné. (Vokaer, 72). Livres. .
