Si en el pasado se habló, justificadamente, de una crisis de los partidos socialdemócratas europeos, sobre todo a partir de la crisis de 2008, hoy, tras la pérdi…da del gobierno por parte de la CDU alemana en las elecciones del 26 de septiembre de 2021 se puede hablar de una crisis parecida en el centro derecha. Pero para analizar estos partidos es preciso definirlos. Consideramos partidos de centro derecha a aquellos partidos que defienden, el proyecto europeo (UE), la democracia liberal, la economía de mercado y el Estado de bienestar. Básicamente, estos partidos se encuentran dentro del Partido Popular Europeo, aunque pueden no estar debido a la propia estructura de partidos de su país. Las corrientes ideológicas que los integran son la democracia cristiana, el liberalismo y el conservadurismo. Es importante notar que estos partidos pueden haber cambiado a lo largo del tiempo, pueden ser nuevos e incluso para algún caso, haber desaparecido. Además, consideramos que solo son merecedores de análisis aquellos partidos con peso suficiente como para ser verdaderos actores políticos nacionales, con representación electoral significativa, con experiencia de gobierno o con capacidad para alcanzarlo. Puesto que estos partidos aspiran a representar los valores mayoritarios de una sociedad, sus adversarios naturales son los partidos de clase, los partidos populistas, es decir, los partidos extremistas en general. The authors identify similarities and differences across four cases at: Bremen/Bremerhaven-Germany, Felixstowe-UK, Gothenburg/Falköping-Sweden, and Zeebrugge-Belgium and suggest under which conditions dryports have a good chance to succeed. The main conclusion is that spatial relief and environmental concerns in implementing and running a dryport do matter but, at the end of the day, competition and governance decide.
