Yate actively participated in the Afghan War (1879-1881) Between 1881 and 1890, Yate explored regions such as Persia, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. In recognition of his significant contributions, Yate was honored as a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. In 1900, he assumed the role of Honorary Organizing Commissioner for the St. John's Ambulance Association in India. Among his notable publications are "Lieut-Col. John Houghton, a Hero of Tirah," "The Army and the Press in 1901," and "England and Russia Face to Face in Asia."
